‘Saturday Night Live’ skit suggests husband of VP candidate has sex with own daughters

A week after a high-profile send-up of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin on “Saturday Night Live,” the NBC comedy show returned to making fun of the Alaskan governor in a skit where New York Times reporters sought to probe the possibility Palin’s husband was having sex with the couple’s own daughters.

“What about the husband?” asked a Times reporter during a mock assignment meeting for the paper. “You know he’s doing those daughters. I mean, come on. It’s Alaska.”

The assignment editor for the Times, portrayed by actor James Franco, responded: “He very well could be. Admittedly, there is no evidence of that, but on the other hand, there is no convincing evidence to the contrary. And these are just some of the lingering questions about Governor Palin.”

The skit featured a photo of one reporter and an on-screen message that stated, “In 2009 [reporter] Howland Gwathmey Moss, V was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for his Times series on unproven, yet un-disproven incest in the Palin family. Sadly, he was to die 3 months later, run over by a snow machine, driven by a polar bear.”

The final shot showed an image of a New York Times page, with headlines that included:

“While No Direct Evidence of Incest in Palin Family Emerges, Counter Evidence Remains Agonizingly Elusive” and “In a Small Alaska Town, Doubts Still Linger.”

The sketch seemed to be designed to mock how out of touch journalists from the Big Apple are when it comes to their knowledge of Alaska, with reporters mistaking a snowmobile for a “baptizing machine,” a crucifix and a NordicTrack exerciser in photographs held up for them.

“It is time the Palin family brought out the big guns. They need to sue General Electric, NBC, ‘Saturday Night Live,’” said Al Barrs of Bascom, Fla. “This is clearly criminal and defamation of character of an entire family and state. All the above needs to be taken to their knees big time once and for all.”

“What if somebody did one with this kind of humor on Obama and his daughters?” asked Jim Cash of Chattanooga, Tenn. “What an uproar there would be. This line of humor is tasteless and moronic and about as low as they could go. There simply must be an uproar over this. We cannot let this just pass.”

The show opened with a brief skit making fun of truth-enhanced TV ads John McCain was approving for his campaign. One ad claimed that since Barack Obama was in favor of universal health care, that meant coverage for everyone in the entire universe, including terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden.

The Politico reported the opening scene was crafted with the help of former castmember Al Franken, a Democrat currently running for the U.S. Senate from Minnesota.

The season premiere of “Saturday Night Live” last week featured comedic actress Tina Fey returning to the show to portray Gov. Palin in a joint appearance with Hillary Clinton, played by Amy Poehler.

Well it seems like the SNL writers are now reduced to making “jokes” that make the fallacy of appealing to ignorance.

Can’t say I’ve enjoyed the show since Will Farrell left. It was even better in the 1990s.

Now it just has a bunch of crappy comedians, and I mean crappy.

Thanks for the links, I sent an email to SNL/NBC…these people are sick and I so tired of standing around and taking it.

    Kernell should be in jail.
Biden’s son should be under investigation.
How about Ashley Biden who beat up a cop in 2002.
Iraq Gate this summer? violation of the Logan Act.

It’s like we live in Cuba or North Korea and the chosen one can get away with anything…not to mention all those disgusting supporters of his, which he engenders with his rhetoric!!!

All I saw was the fact that they were reporting something as fact even though they said they had no proof of it what so ever. Just like the REAL News.

SNL is a past prime, low rent, show with half hack players who cannot get a normal jobs because they are just not entertaining or funny anymore. They have been geting by on their laurels for several years now. Many people wonder when the second act is going to start.Just a bunch of fags and lesbos looking for meaning in the sewer of life.

  5. Howie

Rob it may have been a parody of the way that news is covered, but they have proven that they have absolutely no class or common sense.
Can you imagine the boycotts led by Jessie and Al if they had done the same skit and made it about BHO? I can guarantee that we here in Chicago would not need Ms. Oleary’s cow to kick over a lantern for the city to burn to the ground!!!

    Semper Fi!!

    Dear Rob,

Yes it was about the media making up stories but THIS was only their (skilful) excuse to dump (again) their filth on the Palin’s family. And not the contrary. At least that’s the way I see it, ie ‘take another cup of poison… oh no, this was just a jooooke about the media!’
    I’m truly gutted.

There is hardly anything new about the media supporting the liberal agenda. But this time it has gone too far. I’d be suing the hell out of them for this.

  9. Q_Mech

Anyone got the link to the skit? I’m willing to extend some benefit of doubt here; it sounds like they may actually be making fun of the NYT and the media.

Maybe. I’d like to see for myself.

When writing an email letter to NBC about Saturday Night Live, scroll down to the “Questions not found on FAQ page (use pull down menu)” portion of the menu. Don’t link onto “Want to voice your opinions on NBC shows?” or you’ll be filling out a questionnaire forever.

This is a calculated smear, and would expect them to use it again, especially, just before the election. Further proof of their desperation. Unfortunately, tell a lie often enough and some people will believe it!
