Sunday, Sept. 6
TIME, Sept. 7:40 a.m.: Pre-game
Both candidates have no public schedule today. McCain will appear for the full half hour on CBS’s Face the Nation for his first post-convention interview, while Obama will be on ABC’s This Week and Joe Biden will be interviewed on NBC’s Meet the Press.
McCain has won Politico’s last two post-games on the strength of his tour with Sarah Palin, which has greatly energized and enlarged the crowds at his events. It’s not clear, though, how he’ll be able to transfer the momentum from his new character-based campaign to an interview setting. And with him, Obama and Biden all making appearances on the Sunday shows, the absence of Palin, who’s yet to give an interview to an outlet except People magazine since joining the ticket, will surely be noted.
Meanwhile, Obama has keyed in on the economy, a theme his campaign says it will continue featuring through the election.
