Tranquilized Bear Drops Out Of Tree With Bash Bear Story
I guarantee you that the bear falling out of this tree didn’t get hurt at all. Look at what he landed on. But even if it was concrete, I’m pretty sure he’d be okay, these are tough animals. Case in point:
I was steelhead fishing along a stream here in the southern Oregon coastal range, probably 1989 or so, somewhere around there, and me and my buddy were on a steep slope making our way down a ridge to the stream below. We heard this crashing sound with branches snapping I looked over and at first I thought it was a boulder rolling down the side of the hill. This thing was round and was knocking through tough, thick brush like a hot knife through butter…and then hit with a thud streamside on the rocks.
Then it got up, shook itself, and trotted off upstream. Didn’t even look at us, but I figure he was about 10 yards away, at the farthest.
It was a good sized black bear.
They tuck themselves up and will fucking roll all the way down the side of a mountain, I shit you not.
Pretty cool. Pretty tough. Good eating, too.
I got a ton fishing, diving, hunting, near death stories for ya if ya ever get bored. Did tons of that stuff for years and years. It has been awhile since I’ve done some good hunting or fishing, looks about time. There’s nothing, NOTHING, like being in the mountains or out on the ocean, I shit you not. Whether or not you bag or catch anything, that’s just gravy.
Anytime you can’t fall asleep, just let me know and I’ll put you to sleep with one of my hunting or fishing stories…

September 9th, 2008 at 1:16 pmThat’s no more than a stubbed pinky toe for a bear.
Looks like he missed the landing bag though.
Certainly would have put a man in the hospital.
That bear is just fine.
