D’Rats On A Sinking Ship
by Steve Mann
It is quiet now in the rats nest that Dean rules. No shouting, just panicky whispers as they consider the path the laid before them. Following the likes of Cindy and Soros; they believed that the way to the power they so greedily lusted for was to turn their backs on their own county in war. Choosing to follow moveon.org polls, the lizard Carville urged his party to embrace the strategy that American failure in Iraq is the way to victory at the voting booth. Right or wrong had no place here, patriotism had no place here, truth had no place here, just get the White House back! Whatever it takes! ( http://objective.ytmnd.com )
Foolishly they must feel today, to actually have supported the Commander in Chief during a time that the nation was overcoming the worst slaughter of civilians in it’s history.
Responsible leaders in late 2001 were looking how to prevent another attack like the one we suffered in Tehran in 1979 in the taking of our embassy and the imprisonment of our citizens on soil diplomatically considered our own, or in April 1983 with the death of 17 at the U.S. embassy in Beirut, or in October 1983 with the attack that left 241 dead at the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut, or in December 1983 with five dead at the U.S. embassy in Kuwait, or in January 1984 with the killing of the president of the American University of Beirut, or in April 1984 with 18 dead near a U.S. airbase in Spain, or in September 1984 with another 16 dead at the U.S. embassy in Beirut, or in December 1984 with two dead on a plane hijacked to Tehran, or in June 1985 with one dead on a plane hijacked to Beirut, or with the car bomb killing of five in Saudi Arabia in 1995, or with the Khobar Towers bombing in 1996 killing 19, or in our African embassies in Kenya and Tanzania killing 224 in August of 1998, or the 17 dead on the USS Cole in 2000, or the domestic attacks by militant Islamic fanatics on our own soil, with the killing of an Iranian dissident in the Washington, D.C. area in July of 1980, or in the murder of the leader of the Ahmadiyya sect of Islam killed in Canton, Mich in 1983, or the killing of three in Tacoma in 1984, or the 1986 killing of a doctor in Augusta, Ga, or the murder of an Egyptian freethinker killed in Tucson in January 1990, or the 1990 murder of a Jewish leader in New York, or in the 1991 killing of an Egyptian in New York, or the two CIA staff killed outside agency headquarters in Langley, Va. in 1993, or the Six people killed at the World Trade Center in 1993, or the 1994 murder of an Orthodox Jewish boy killed on the Brooklyn Bridge, or the February 1997 killing of a Danish tourist on the Empire State building, or the 217 passengers killed on an EgyptAir flight near New York City killed in 1999, or the slaughter of 2,974 in September of 2001.
The response would not be simply to fire a $2 million missile at a $10 empty tent and hit a camel in the ass as Bush noted. That tactic was not effective, and more than 20 years of such attempts have only produced more dead Americans.
Hillary seemed to agree as she noted in a Senate Floor speech in 2002, which closed with these words:
“And finally, on another personal note, I come to this decision from the perspective of a Senator from New York who has seen all too closely the consequences of last year’s terrible attacks on our nation. In balancing the risks of action versus inaction, I think New Yorkers who have gone through the fires of hell may be more attuned to the risk of not acting. I know that I am.
So it is with conviction that I support this resolution as being in the best interests of our nation. A vote for it is not a vote to rush to war; it is a vote that puts awesome responsibility in the hands of our President and we say to him - use these powers wisely and as a last resort. And it is a vote that says clearly to Saddam Hussein - this is your last chance - disarm or be disarmed.”
But now she claims she voted for additional UN inspections. I do not see that in her words from that time.
Edwards in 2002:
“Saddam Hussein’s regime represents a grave threat to America and our allies, including our vital ally, Israel. For more than two decades, Saddam Hussein has sought weapons of mass destruction through every available means. We know that he has chemical and biological weapons. He has already used them against his neighbors and his own people, and is trying to build more. We know that he is doing everything he can to build nuclear weapons, and we know that each day he gets closer to achieving that goal.
Iraq has continued to seek nuclear weapons and develop its arsenal in defiance of the collective will of the international community, as expressed through the United Nations Security Council. It is violating the terms of the 1991 cease-fire that ended the Gulf war and as many as 16 Security Council resolutions, including 11 resolutions concerning Iraq’s efforts to develop weapons of mass destruction.
By ignoring these resolutions, Saddam Hussein is undermining the credibility of the United Nations, openly violating international law, and making a mockery of the very idea of collective action that is so important to the United States and its allies.
We cannot allow Saddam Hussein to get nuclear weapons in violation of his own commitments, our commitments, and the world’s commitments.
This resolution will send a clear message to Iraq and the world: America is united in its determination t o eliminate forever the threat of Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction.”
He says that vote was a mistake. Sounds like he meant it then.
Barack Hussein Obama was not in the Senate, but he says he will attack a sovereign country based on intelligence reports.
Biden, well he voted … who really cares what he thinks? He is just another racist democrat flipping around trying to land on the populist side of the latest poll.
Dennis Kucinich is the only one true to himself on this, a naive old hippy, but consistent.
As I see it Iraq has hit the tipping point. This is because they have chosen to fight with us now, that the great men and women in our armed forces are not the monsters they were raised to believe, but strong warriors worthy of trust. The leftist lap dog New York Times even opined that Iraq has improved to the point that they think victory is possible. The House Majority Whip James Clyburn publicly admitted that a positive report on the Iraq war this September would “a real big problem for us.” The truth is coming out, twisted and shaped by liberal ideologues in the mainstream media, but it is coming out.
The disgusting and treasonous behavior of Reid and Nancy and the other members of our government will not be forgotten or forgiven. In a time critical to the security of our free nation and that of our free allies the d’rats chose to publicly oppose the Commander in Chief for domestic political gain. Chose to embolden our enemies by voting for retreat. Chose to drag out funding of our troops while engaged in battle. Chose to vote to put our troops in harms way then piss on the lives of fallen by voting to give in to an enemy before our victory.
So invested in our defeat in Iraq I wonder what will the d’rats do now? Pay attention because the bullshit and revisionist lies are going to flow like drool out of the drunken mouth of Ted Kennedy.
.
Damn good read Steve, and on the MAEK!!
August 2nd, 2007 at 8:24 amWay to shove their own leftist words back down their own leftist throats.
August 2nd, 2007 at 9:03 amGood post …
Personally, I am looking foward to the impending meltdown of the Democrat party in September and it will be thoroughly satisfying to me to see all the liberals heads explode right off their shoulders.
August 2nd, 2007 at 9:17 amWell said, Steve! With the latest news from the NYT that the war is going well and is “winnable” I wonder if the candidates will try to portray themselves as misunderstood patriots who were rooting for our side all along?
August 2nd, 2007 at 9:52 amGood post Steve,
August 2nd, 2007 at 9:54 amI agree - Each time we see success in Iraq, were going to see more B.S. & revisionist lies.
Great post Steve, you’re right on the money! We need to hold their feet to the fire and not let them change their position, no flip floppers..their ideas for political gain has blown up in their faces..bunch of dummies should know, our troops dont lose!

As am I. Continued success in Iraq exposes the left’s penchant of rooting for our enemies. You know it’s a sad day in La La land when the NYT reports the surge is working!! I’ll bet the editors of that liberal rag were sick to their stomachs for having to report it!
August 2nd, 2007 at 11:20 amAll that and more. Good job.
August 2nd, 2007 at 11:31 amGood to put a face to the name.
August 2nd, 2007 at 1:33 pmI’ve finally figured out what liberalism is all about: control. They want total control (”power”) over everything. They use anything and everything for politcal gain, no matter what it is. They will sell out their country for power. They are control freaks. They want to tell you what kind of a washing machine you can buy, what kind of a car you can drive, no smoking because they said so, impose their morality on you, and so on. The anti-war thing is because they generally don’t believe in war, and they want total control over the government so they can make sure we never have war, dam the consequences. They will say or do anything for the control, which is why you are able to catch them in so many contradictions of their own pronouncements. That’s why they so resemble Stanlinsts–totalitarians. Because they are control freaks. Guess what–I hate control freaks, ESPECIALLY when they try to control me!
I’d add these comments fresh from the Sage of South Central:
“Recall that for a brief period of time, our military did, in fact, locate WMD. The story almost immediately became discounted, as the “WMD” turned out to be old and worn, unlikely to pose any threat. My friend, an actor, told me that he and several other actors were on a set working together. One said, “F—, they found the WMD!” Not, “Hey, I might have to reconsider my opposition to the war because our military found WMD.” Or, “I feel relieved about the war, the president was right.” Or, “The discovery of the WMD shows that we did, indeed, face the possibility of Saddam handing off the WMD to a terrorist or even using the stuff himself on America or American interests.” But, no. The near-unanimous reaction – my friend kept his mouth shut – was, “That bleeping Bush was right.”
This brings us to more unpleasant recent news – at least, if you consider the Iraq war a “quagmire.”
Worldwide Muslim support for homicide bombing, according to a recent Pew Global Attitudes survey, shows a dramatic decline. In Lebanon, in 2002, 74 percent of the population agreed that homicide bombings were “often” or “sometimes justified.” Now only 34 percent feel this way. Support in Pakistan dropped from 33 percent to 9 percent. Similar jaw-dropping declines were found in Bangladesh and Indonesia. In seven of the eight Muslim countries surveyed, support for homicide bombings declined.
How about some love for Bush, who, after all, now seems, at least a bit, like a uniter, not a divider?
More “bad” news.
“Support for initial invasion has risen, poll shows,” ran the headline in a major American newspaper. Support for the war, at 35 percent in May, now registers at 42 percent, a 20 percent increase. The next day, the newspaper explained on its website, “The war in Iraq is the single most important ongoing news story right now. Public opinion about the war is a critical part of that story. That’s why when we had a poll finding about the war that we could not explain, we went back and did another poll on the very same subject. We wanted to make sure we had gotten it right.”
But stunned by the poll results, the paper ran a second poll to confirm the results. Its explanation: “The July numbers represented a change. It was counterintuitive.” Apparently, so counterintuitive that, after calling the Iraq war “the single most important ongoing news story,” the paper reported the uptick in support for the war on page A-9.
Now for the Iraqi “surge.”
Gen. David Petraeus, the head of U.S. forces in Iraq – confirmed unanimously by the Senate – recently said of the surge, “[W]e have achieved what we believe is a reasonable degree of tactical momentum on the ground, gains against the principal near-term threat, al-Qaida Iraq, and also gains against what is another near-term threat, and also potentially the long-term threat: Shia militia extremists.”
In an article headlined “Al-Qaida faces rebellion from the ranks,” the London Times writes, “[D]ozens of low-level members of al-Qaida in Iraq are daring to become informants for the U.S. military in a hostile Baghdad neighborhood. The groundbreaking move in Doura is part of a wider trend that has started in other al-Qaida hotspots across the country and in which Sunni insurgent groups and tribal sheikhs have stood together with the coalition against the extremist movement.”
Oh, one more thing. The consumer confidence index just reached a six-year high. “

There must be an unrelenting reminder. We’re dealing with a population that does have a job and many have families and they have to sleep sometime and there has been an unrelenting assault of them by the main scream media. Keep hitting them with the facts. The facts have to be turned into sound bites, economy of words is essential. You know they hover around sites such as this and it will eventually sink in and word will get around. Elections are a year and a half away.
