Initial Withdrawal Stats
Based on Petraeus’ recommendations to begin to slightly scale down Surge troop numbers, but not reduce the force from any of the 130,000 troops that were already there, here’s the immediate timetable:
About 2,000 Marines to leave this month ( probably from Al Anbar )
and about 4,000 soldiers to leave in December
Harry Reid hopes to pick off three Republicans in order to pass an immediate withdrawal of much higher numbers, but given that Bush and Petraeus have very deftly created the impression of some sort of drawdown, he can forget it. As I’ve said before, the Surge was scheduled to last 12-18 months, so the Dems have achieved nothing since the new drawdown is in line with Bush’s original planning, and even when the drawdown is complete sometime next year, we will still have just as many troops in Iraq as we did before the surge started. Our full presence in Iraq is going to last at least another year, and it will be followed by nothing less than permanent U.S. bases, especially air bases, there.
Go find something to do Harry, you’re wasting your time here. Here’s what you can do: you and Dean can call Adam Ghadan and get him started on writing the Dems’ platform for next year’s convention. He pretty much already laid it out.

I been saying all along that the Dufouscratz and the Islamofacists are one and the same enemy. Excellent point.
