Soldiers at Fort Huachuca, Arizona

Hey gang, I have been away for training so I will not be able to put up a video post until Dec 9th. In the mean time, I will put up some articles that support the cause. Take a look at this one; I am actually on this base on a special training mission and the border situation is scary. I have been all over the world, to include 2 combat tours to Iraq, and this is just as scary. I have received several briefs that would make you shudder in absolute fear. There is a low intensity conflict along the border, it is very real, and getting worse day by day. Please contact your congressmen and put on the heat. Iraq is important, but let’s not forget our unguarded backyard. And don’t forget to thank the Border Patrol, Customs, Park Rangers, National Guard, and all those guys who get paid crap but still answer the call to protect our borders.

Islamists Target Arizona Base

Terrorists said aided by cartel

By Sara A. Carter, Washington Times

Fort Huachuca, the nation’s largest intelligence-training center, changed security measures in May after being warned that Islamist terrorists, with the aid of Mexican drug cartels, were planning an attack on the facility.

Fort officials changed security measures after sources warned that possibly 60 Afghan and Iraqi terrorists were to be smuggled into the U.S. through underground tunnels with high-powered weapons to attack the Arizona Army base, according to multiple confidential law enforcement documents obtained by The Washington Times.

“A portion of the operatives were in the United States, with the remainder not yet in the United States,” according to one of the documents, an FBI advisory that was distributed to the Defense Intelligence Agency, the CIA, Customs and Border Protection and the Justice Department, among several other law enforcement agencies throughout the nation. “The Afghanis and Iraqis shaved their beards so as not to appear to be Middle Easterners.”

According to the FBI advisory, each Middle Easterner paid Mexican drug lords $20,000 “or the equivalent in weapons” for the cartel’s assistance in smuggling them and their weapons through tunnels along the border into the U.S. The weapons would be sent through tunnels that supposedly ended in Arizona and New Mexico, but the Islamist terrorists would be smuggled through Laredo, Texas, and reclaim the weapons later.

A number of the Afghans and Iraqis are already in a safe house in Texas, the FBI advisory said.

Fort Huachuca, which lies about 20 miles from the Mexican border, has members of all four service branches training in intelligence and secret operations. About 12,000 persons work at the fort and many have their families on base.

Lt. Col. Matthew Garner, spokesman for Fort Huachuca, said details about the current phase of the investigation or security changes on the post “will not be disclosed.”

“We are always taking precautions to ensure that soldiers, family members and civilians that work and live on Fort Huachuca are safe,” Col. Garner said. “With this specific threat, we did change some aspects of our security that we did have in place.”

According to the FBI report, some of the weapons associated with the plot have been smuggled through a tunnel from Mexico to the U.S.

The FBI report is based on Drug Enforcement Administration sources, including Mexican nationals with access to “sub-sources” in the drug cartels. The report’s assessment is that the DEA’s Mexican contacts have proven reliable in the past but the “sub-source” is of uncertain reliability.

According to the source who spoke with DEA intelligence agents, the weapons included two Milan anti-tank missiles, Soviet-made surface-to-air missiles, grenade launchers, long guns and handguns.

“FBI Comment: The surface-to-air missiles may in fact be RPGs,” the advisory stated, adding that the weapons stash in Mexico could include two or three more Milan missiles.

The Milan, a French-German portable anti-tank weapon, was developed in the 1970s and widely sold to militaries around the world, including Saddam Hussein’s Iraq. Insurgents in Iraq reportedly have used a Milan missile in an attack on a British tank. Iraqi guerrillas also have shot down U.S. helicopters using RPGs, or rocket-propelled grenades.

FBI spokesman Paul Bresson would not elaborate on the current investigation regarding the threat, but said that many times the initial reports are based on “raw, uncorroborated information that has not been completely vetted.” He added that this report shows the extent to which all law enforcement and intelligence agencies cooperate in terror investigations.

“If nothing else, it provides a good look at the inner working of the law-enforcement and intelligence community and how they work together on a daily basis to share and deal with threat information,” Mr. Bresson said. “It also demonstrates the cross-pollination that frequently exists between criminal and terrorist groups.”

The connections between criminal enterprises, such as powerful drug cartels, and terrorist organizations have become a serious concern for intelligence agencies monitoring the U.S.-Mexico border.

“Based upon the information provided by the DEA handling agent, the DEA has classified the source as credible,” stated a Department of Homeland Security document, regarding the possibility of an attack on Fort Huachuca. “The identity of the sub-source has been established; however, none of the information provided by the sub-source in the past has been corroborated.”

The FBI advisory stated the “sub-source” for the information “is a member of the Zetas,” the military arm of one of Mexico’s most dangerous drug-trafficking organizations, the Gulf Cartel. The Gulf Cartel controls the movement of narcotics from Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, into the U.S. along the Laredo corridor.

However, the sub-source “for this information is of unknown reliability,” the FBI advisory stated.

According to the DEA, the sub-source identified Mexico’s Sinaloa cartel as the drug lords who would assist the terrorists in their plot.

This led the DEA to caution the FBI that its information may be a Gulf Cartel plant to bring the U.S. military in against its main rival. The Sinaloa and Gulf cartels have fought bloody battles along the border for control of shipping routes into the U.S.

“It doesn’t mean that there isn’t truth to some of what this source delivered to U.S. agents,” said one law-enforcement intelligence agent, on the condition of anonymity. “The cartels have no loyalty to any nation or person. It isn’t surprising that for the right price they would assist terrorists, knowingly or unknowingly.”

Iggy, Thanks for the update, and stay safe! I have to deal with several extremly foolish Senators and Congressmen like Finestein, Boxer, and Harman. All Liberal Democrats who hate the fact that we are winning this thing!

  2. Kurt(the infidel)

And the dems biggest talking points is that there were no terrorists that crossed the border to attack us on 9/11. well maybe not but this new report sounds bad but admitedly not unexpected. I figured they would exploit this border all along, i mean afterall it is like a damn open door.

kind of hard to imagine even on American soil you would still be on the frontlines in the GWOT. Stay safe Iggy

  3. Brian H

Hard to imagine that there’s no reliable tech for detecting tunnels. If not, it should get developed, stat.

  4. Dannyboy

This is just asinine that a sovereign nation is allowing this kind of crap to happen at its borders! What happened to all those National Guardsmen that were sent there to prevent this stuff? Oh yeah, that was only window dressing and a hollow gesture by an asshole president (and I voted for this guy). When all the buzz died down, they disappeared, as did the promise of building 700 miles of fence.

Our government cannot do the ONE thing that it is constitutionally bound to do, and that is to protect its citizens from those who want to hurt us. It can tax the hell out of us and use our money for all kinds of programs, it can send our money all around the world, but it cannot put up a f’ing fence, even when its own citizens are begging for them to do so. I become so enraged by this. Seal the f’ing borders NOW!

  5. GF

Sheriff Joe finds a drop house of illegals almost every other day. The terrorist are probably among us. So yeah, lock and load and stay out of the malls.

  6. Axem

This is one of the scariest things I’ve read in a long time.

I hope they kill Geraldo first.

Danny, Big business runs this nation and they tell any prez
what to do and not to do, it’s all about them making $, they are not patriots and they hide behind the “corporate veil”.
The constitution is butt wipe to them, if you have any ideas on how to release their grip, I’m all ears.

    Get Your Guns

Can’t. The libs took them all away.

  9. Dr. Jerry

I would call this the “American Intafada” and the “Insurgency” in already underway. When they will strike and where they will strike remains, to the general public (us), unknown.

They are among us, “nips in the wire,” as Capt Dale Dye said in “Platoon” and as my age bracket would understand from the Vietnam War.

What remains to be determined is: How will our “Authorities” respond and how the everyday American will respond to the “Authorities:” response or lack of it.

By the way; getting your guns is step one in our response. Step two will be putting those guns to their proper use.

Hello, John McCain, are you listening? Lindsey Graham? President Bush? Anybody?

You want to see a response ?
Time for “the old vets’s” of this country to take care of business, since the DC boy’s are laughing in our face. It’s suit up time!

That DC crowd would be off their ass in seconds and be on the boy’s like white on rice, bustin heads, vet’s heads big time.

I hate to burst y’all’s bubble, but things are not nearly as dire as all this. I appreciate your concern Iggy. I happen to have been a soldier here and now a gov’t contractor. Although it would not surprise me that the cartels would be willing to smuggle terrorists into the country, I suspect it more plausible that they are trying to create a state of alarm in which the border enforcement would be more likely to crackdown on the cartel rivals, seeing as how the informant is a Zeta. The ugly situation is that the cartels with the corrupt mexican gov’t enforcers are able to operate easily in smuggling drugs to the US and also to smuggle weapons from here to Mexico. Yes, it is actually easier for them to acquire weapons here in the states and smuggle them down there than it is to acquire them in their own country. Also, anyone who’s been in the military knows that we receive briefs on terrorism and possible threats to our security. It’s normal SOP. I’m not saying ignore the threats or the rumours, just temper your convictions with realistic assessment. Don’t freak out. Trust me…there’s plenty of people down here on watch. Our citizens in AZ are well armed and prepared to defend this country.

  13. drillanwr

Glenn Beck has made mention that there is some “terrorist connection” to Phoenix … in addition to the new airport X-ray scanners being testeded/set-up in the Phoenix Airport. I believe the infamous “I sue you!” Flying Imams were heading there … and didn’t the 9-11 hijackers take their flying lessons in the Phoenix area (or am I recalling it was the FBI Phoenix headquarters that first scratched their heads with a “hmmm?” about the flight lessons?)

Beck researched “Phoenix”, and the list of “oddities” therein and around in the last several years.

  14. mess

    Mjolnir,
With all due respect I can not agree there’s plenty of people down there on watch considering the number of illegals coming across the border is measured in the millions.

  15. old11B

There may be plenty of people watching, but I hear almost anybody can work on post. Force protection may need more “intelligence” ?

Just try to enter Delta compound.

  16. Intifatass

Great find Iggy, look forward to your next video.

Trust me, y’all Phoenix is a terroist hotspot. Things are going to happen. Watch.

I’m sure a lot of readers here know about a lot of things rumbling there.

  17. Dean Wormer

Yeah, it’s just a coincidence all the flying Imams live there.

  18. Blues Preacher

At least it’s Arizona, or the Feds WOULD have gotten all the guns.

  19. Iggy

    Patriots,

The entire border is relatively unsecured, there are illegal people, drugs, and weapons crossing the border every day. There have been reported and documented cross-border attacks. You would think that after Sep 11th we would have moved immediately to secure the border. The weapons, illegal aliens, and drugs have been no secret. With all the Global War on Terror funds, you would think they would seal this critical vulnerability – but no. So many people, and companies, are getting fat off of the GWOT money and someone needs to put a critical focus on securing the ENTIRE border – for the drugs, for the weapons, and even the mere threat that ANY terrorist would enter our country undocumented. There have been verified reports of Arab speaking men along the border. Drug runners and aliens slip through all the time and even if a few jihadis get through, the costs could be deadly – and I consider the loss of a single American a horrific tragedy. If we had enough border protection, across the entire border, we would not have the drug, weapons, and alien problem. Ask a border agent, or a park ranger – there are not enough people on the job, and they most certainly do not get paid the money they deserve. I can personally verify, as a witness, that people are slipping through – with the occasional armed escort.

You are right, the sky is indeed not falling, and there are no hordes of Islamo-fascists waiting to invade, however, it did not take a horde to take down the towers. There is a need to come kicking and screaming, because after decades of drug smuggling and illegal immigration, and more appalling - after the terrorists attacks and the subsequent attempts, we have not effectively stopped it. Think about all the taxes we pay, and all the money floating around – and we can’t put up a simple fence. Disappointing doesn’t even come close. We shouldn’t have to rely on armed civilians to protect our borders; that means our government has failed, both Dems and Reps. It is what it is.

    Semper

  20. old11B

Yes Iggy, our government has failed…………..

  21. Gaige Mosher

    Iggy,

Precisely what would be the best course of action? We can’t just build a wall and leave it unmanned. Actually locking down the border nice and tight would take 100Ks of men, wouldn’t it? It would be easier if we did a DMZ of sorts, nothing gets across, period, but we still have to leave the border open to trade.

    What’d we do?

  22. L. McGuire

Iggy - Thank you for your post.

I am in Texas and this issue is VERY frustating for me and just downright frightening for the country. What are we supposed to do? We MUST stand up and hold our government accountable. I am particularly angry with the Republican double talk on this issue. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison says she supports border security, but she issued amendment 3176, which in subparagraph D essentially allows the Border Fence that was put into law last year to be built OR NOT - This amendement leaves it up to Homeland Security - Chertoff Jerkoff - that is why the fence is not being built. I have written her repeatedly and her form letter response indicates that “it is important that our local officials have input in the location of the fence along the Texas border” . . . those people including government officials who are taking the kick-backs and payoffs from the drug cartels and the human smugglers, and those making getting rich from the cheap labor. It is infuriating. The Republicans are playing with “We The People” - they are playing with our heads — Saying what we want to hear and pulling sneaky little strings behind our backs. And Kay Bailey Hutchison wants to come back to Texas and be governor - over my dead body.

I am so tired of the apathy and the excuses and the claims that the border can not possibly be secured! Lock the darn thing down - North and South - screw the trade and screw the whiners. I am tired of being played for a fool.

Iggy - Also, thank you for your service to our country. I enjoy your posts and your videos. I take this report about the presumed attack on Fort Huachuca VERY SERIOUSLY. It could just as well be happening at Fort Hood because I know for a fact that non-Americans are working on site at Fort Hood . . . as sheetrockers.

Good to hear from you, Iggy!

  25. Jim

I feared it was getting to this point…I heard militias were coming across our border and going as far as 100 mi

  26. jd

A friend of mine in the marines came back from basic on a short leave convinced that World War III was happening and that he was sure to go to a ground war in Korea because that’s what the commanding officer told him was happening.

Take things with a grain of salt, is all I’m saying.

  27. Iggy

Real quick food for thought here,

We don’t need 100k guys on the border at a time. We need to use the Israel model for securing the borders. Also, secure does not mean “completely sealed”. We have border checkpoints that regulate travel and trade – that is easy. In between we have a 20 foot “smart fence” that has sensors all over it; don’t forget barbed wire, etc. It may be better to double it up the fence, create a “pocket”. Either way, once the sensors go off, send in a UAV, helicopter, and a patrol team to get these guys. There is no way they could get away. We have all the technology in the world to make this ultra-effective and not require extensive manpower. Absolute worse case scenario, buy up border property, post the requisite warning signs, and teach your kids to shoot.

Big picture, we can do this. It is not outside of reason, it is just outside of our political willpower and commitment.

Thank you all for loving America.

  28. mjolnir

The border issue is well documented here and in TX as well. I am totally in agreement with you that we should do as Israel does. I remember doing a 6month rotation in Egypt back in the late 90’s and going through the border checkpoints both from Egypt to Israel and from Israel to Jordan. I think 100m or so of no man’s land with concertina and checkpoints is a grand idea. Problem is we’re too “humane” to lay down a border fence…WTF? Never could figure that out. The corruption is not only with the Mexicans either. Just prior to 9/11 we had a huge bust of an entire chain of command of the MP force here that was trafficking drugs…The sad but honest truth is unless we as Americans can grab our nads and do something instead of hemming and hawing or blatantly ignoring the situation…nothin’s gonna change. Thanks for your response Iggy…as always good looking out brother.

    “Whiplash Alert”? Or “CYA”?

FBI: Widely reported terrorist threat to Fort Huachuca unfounded

National reports on terrorists crossing the border with the help of Mexican drug smugglers to attack the Army post in Sierra Vista are incorrect

    http://www.azstarnet.com/sn/hourlyupdate/213456.php

  30. Jim

    LOL
“Absolute worse case scenario, buy up border property, post the requisite warning signs, and teach your kids to shoot”

How about we buy the property and train our own illegal alien (counter rebel paramilitary)….I mean security guards….

  31. Sandy K.

Even if that terrorist threat to Fort Huachuca was unfounded it sure does not remove the need to seal our border for lots of reasons. The terrorist threat remains.

I think both political parties better start taking more of us seriously about the issue. In many of the conversations I have had with people who are “anti-war”, and do not support our military in Iraq, are people who do not take the GWOT seriously because they do not see how we could possibly leave our border open if we really believed the terrorist risks were so high. I think it is safe to say that most of us who read and comment here want the border sealed and know that the GWOT is very serious. I think if the doubters, the other 48% or whatever it is now, were to see the border finally sealed they would have one less talking point and they would know that the threat to our country, our freedoms, and way of life are in danger.

“You are right, the sky is indeed not falling, and there are no hordes of Islamo-fascists waiting to invade, however, it did not take a horde to take down the towers. Absolutely. Thanks Iggy.

  32. Dannyboy

Too true, Mark & Iggy. At this point, the best thing to do is grow numbers to fight illegal immigration and the legislation being passed to support it. The best way I know is to join NumbersUSA (support the SAVE Act), call and write your congressmen, and keep an open dialog about all this stuff with all your friends.
