Sarah Kreager, who is white, suffered two broken bones in her left eye socket after nine teenagers, six black men and three black women attacked her when she tried to take a seat on a city bus.

As Sarah Kreager, 26, tried to sit down on a Baltimore City bus Tuesday, police say, a middle-schooler told her she couldn’t. When she attempted to take another seat, a middle-schooler wouldn’t let her. Finally, according to police, Kreager just sat down.
She was “immediately attacked” by nine students — three females and six males — from Robert Poole Middle School. They punched and kicked her at 2:59 p.m. at the intersection of 33rd Street and Chestnut Avenue, according to Maryland Transit Administration police.
Kreager was dragged off the bus and her boyfriend, Troy Ennis, attempted to get her back on, police said.
She sustained “serious injuries” and had to be transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, according to a police report.
Kreager suffered two broken bones in her left eye socket, police said.
“She had eye muscles that were damaged,” a police report states. “She had deep lacerations on the top of her head and another above her neck.”
Two seats and the bus’ rear glass were destroyed during the attack, police said.
The bus driver on the No. 27 line quickly called police, who responded and arrested the nine juveniles, said Jawauna Greene, an MTA police spokeswoman.
All nine suspects, ages 14 and 15, were arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
Their bus tickets — provided by the school — have been revoked, Greene said.
“Riding the bus is a privilege,” she said. “Public safety is our primary concern.”
Greene said the investigation into the incident was ongoing and she didn’t know whether the attack had anything to do with the victim’s race.
The suspects in the incident are black. The victim is white, according to the police report.
Baltimore resident David Briggs, who lives near the crime scene, said the incident underscores Baltimore’s pervasive crime.
“Now, I can’t even ride the bus,” he said.

She’s a principal at an elementary school where the majority of the students are African-American. One day, a black boy was disturbing class (repeat offender, I believe) and the teacher, who was white, sent him down to her office. She (also white) took the proper disciplinary action and I believe suspended the boy.
Well, the boy’s mother accused her of racism and called the NAACP, who, in turn, called my mother and challenged her decision.
In response to their challenge, she said something along the lines of: “Who are you advancing, the boy who was disturbing class or the twenty other African-American students in that class whose learning was being hindered?”

Baltimore is the only place in the US where you will find yuppies, punks, ghetto types, preppy kids, alternative-dress types, businessmen, blue collar workers, and such all at the same bar drinking having a good time together. It is the political, social, and economic, nexus of the east coast.
In maryland we have every type of geography, every type of work, every type of economy, and every type of way of life.
That being said, people are big in mutual respect. Ive found myself in dark ghettos before, silly little white boy, but just because I was respectful and confident I never got fucked with. In DC and other cities I have been threatened in that kind of environment.

I think there has been a miscommunication.
Everyone agrees with your contention that not all crimes are hate crimes. The contention of this piece is not that this was a hate crime per se, but to call attention to the fact that it goes unreported, whereas the Jena 6 case was a “hate crime” that Jesse, Al, and the gang jumped on.
The point is simply to say: where are they now? and to demonstrate the absurdity of the Jena 6 thing by comparison, and less to fall into the same trip in reverse.
However your admonition is important to remember.

HUH?? I grew up in Baltimore City many moons ago. I can assure you during the 50’s it was bad, but trust me, by comparison to today..it was like Disneyland! First, read the news, there are drive by shootings, muggings, you name it, all the time. Not long ago, a man was robbed and kicked so bad, he is still in a coma…and all he did was NOTHING! Nothing to provoke anyone. You refer to these animals as “children”?? These are not children…these are raving maniacs out of control. The little Demons and Damiens of our society. Those Little “kids” could have killed this woman..thus leaving her little children without a mother. To condemn her because she was “in a place that you deem unacceptable, by location? Hey, the bus goes thru some of these neighborhoods to reach certain destinations. Where is your sympathy for her, or HER children? Face it, this is a hate crime, its a black on white Hate crime. I’d like to know what wonderful land of Oz you reside in here. Your not safe anywhere, and its getting worse. Did you also overlook the fact that these “children” also tried to attack a WHITE elderly woman not long ago on that same bus line? How would you feel if it were your mother or Grandmother that got beat like that woman did? Just a thought for you to ponder! Sign me “Had Enuff of this Crap”!!
