First of all you do not take out buildings with mortars. AND Our troops would not stop for a body on the side of the road that wasn’t wearing a US uniform. Bodies tend to be booby trapped. And can someone tell me why a mortarman for an M252 81mm mortar used “for long-range indirect fire support to light infantry, air assault, and airborne units” (Wikipedia entry here) would be situated in a long-term fixed position, like artillery, in a garbage dump? Also, I bothered to check up on pudding being in MREs, so I checked here and here and found nothing about it being apart of their contents (admittedly, that is not a systematic search). Unless, of course, he’s referring to “Ranger Pudding,” a DIY concoction of cocoa mix, non-dairy creamer, and water, but he specifically called it “your pudding…your MRE pudding.” That might be a small detail to quibble over, but he was so forthcoming in other details of his remembrance, that it seems unlikely he would mess up that detail. The other clue that he’s pulling it out of his ass is “to secure it and wait for the MPs, or whatever authorities…” A basic detail of protocol that he should’ve known, if he had served.
