Breaking: Navy Fires Warning Shots At Iranian Boat In Persian Gulf
The ship that opened fire was the USS Typhoon. It’s a Cyclone Class Coastal Patrol Boat
WASHINGTON — The U.S. Navy says one of its ships encountered a small Iranian high-speed boat in the central Persian Gulf. The Navy says… the boat stayed away after the ship fired a flare.
Two other similar Iranian boats in the area did not approach as closely.
The USS Typhoon tried unsuccessfully to establish radio contact with the Iranian boat after it came within an estimated 200 yards of the Typhoon on Thursday, outside Iranian territorial waters. A Navy official says the ship then fired the flare and continued on its way northward without incident.
The official said Friday that the Iranian boats did not appear to have been armed.
It was at least the second U.S. Navy encounter with an aggressive Iranian high-speed boat this year. In January, Iranian boats made what the Navy called provocative moves near a U.S. ship in the Strait of Hormuz.

Yeah, the boat that attacked the USS Cole didn’t look armed, either. I say reactivate all 4 Iowas, and unleash them on the fucking Iranian shoreline!!!
April 11th, 2008 at 9:26 amThey should have sunk it.
April 11th, 2008 at 9:28 amSimply put. they should have sunk the ship. we’re past the point of having trust for anything these assholes try to do. and lets face facts here, these were not Iranian fishing boats.
April 11th, 2008 at 9:35 amThey’re just asking for a cruise missile up the ass.

April 11th, 2008 at 10:00 amDon’t wait. Have some target practise.
ROE’s “rules of engagement” should be as follows;
‘use the rule of demeaner, the meaner they are, the meaner you are”.

April 11th, 2008 at 10:02 amAn old high school buddy of mine dropped out of college to join the Navy. He served in fire control on a light guided missile crusier back in the mid 70’s. He said that they really loved target practice and always got chewed out, but blamed it on the electronics, for hitting the drone (boat) at the end of the practice. I remember that he said that these drones were about 16′ or so long with four largest Mercs at the time outboard motors on them and full of electronics for jamming, controls, etc… He allowed that accuracy was so great they could have picked of one of the motors with their guns if they had chosen to.
So my suggestion is make a mistake and hit one of the Iranian “drones”

April 11th, 2008 at 11:23 amA. S. Wise- VA: Damn straight! Nothing more terrifying than a salvo of 16 inch shells coming out of nowhere. Now multiply that by four: 36 sixteen-inch shells…oughta make the Iranians take an involuntary collective shit.
April 11th, 2008 at 11:24 amplus no anti-ship missile can harm the battleship, the armor is like 300-400 mm at a waterline, if not more, just need to refurbish the thing, put couple more of the phalanxses and RAMs - and thats it
April 11th, 2008 at 12:29 pmWhen do we stop w/the freakin’ “warning shots”. Tell them, in a very public manner, that the next one goes to the bottom. Nuff said.

April 11th, 2008 at 2:13 pmI think we have warned them enough ( and that is the reason we are where we are today to damned many warnings).. from now on just take em out!
