Outrage: DNC Ad Shows U.S. Soldiers Being Blown Up - With Video
The Democratic National Committee has sparked outrage among veterans and others across the internet by running an anti-John McCain ad that shows U.S. soldiers being blown up.
After the new ad’s voice-over castigated McCain for suggesting that the United States may stay in Iraq for “maybe 100” years, the footage becomes shocking.
The DNC ad then shows an explosive device detonating near two soldiers standing beside a palm tree. The two soldiers disappear in an explosive fireball. The video also shows images of burning vehicles.

The footage appears similar to film taken by jihadists who videotape IED explosions that kill American combat troops. The jihadists place the video on the internet to tout their “kill Americans” campaign success. The Army estimates that more than 6,500 jihadist Web sites promote violence against America and American troops.
Many U.S. media outlets have refused to air excerpts from such videos for several reasons - including out of respect of the servicemen and women depicted in the videos.
The DNC apparently does not agree. Calls to the DNC for comment and for information about the footage went unreturned.
The Republican National Committee harshly criticized the ad, stating: “It is becoming clear that [DNC Chairman] Howard Dean and the Democratic National Committee will say and do anything to defeat John McCain.” The RNC demanded that the ad be stopped.
The McCain campaign and the RNC contend that the Democrats have been distorting McCain’s comment that the United States may remain in Iraq for “maybe 100” years. Such critics say McCain’s comments have been taken out of context.
The Associated Press reported that he actually went on to say:
“As long as Americans are not being injured or harmed or wounded or killed, it’s fine with me, and I hope it would be fine with you, if we maintain a presence in a very volatile part of the world where al-Qaida is training, recruiting, equipping and motivating people every single day.”
Republicans also allege that the DNC violates federal election law by coordinating its ad campaign with the Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton campaigns.
The RNC counsel has sent letters to the heads of NBC, CNN, and MSNBC demanding the ad be pulled.

April 28th, 2008 at 7:12 pmThe video of the U.S. Troops happened in late 2003 I believe, anyways I saw it in late ‘03 or early ‘04 on StrategPage.com.
The IED was buried on the other side of the palm tree shielding the Troops from the blast.
The full video showed them walking away from it, probably with hearing loss and maybe a concussion, BUT THEY DID WALK AWAY.
This was literally one of the first IED attacks caught on video tape.
…and yea the Ad is despicable.

As to Germany … even when it was over (VE Day) … it wasn’t over in Germany for us for quite awhile … we still were dealing with violent resistance for quite some time.

Hey smart a$$ I did two tours in Korea inside the DMZ where off and on the North Korean still infiltrate and shoot at us! And in 1988 while doing a Peace Keeping Mission in the Sinai, Egypt one of our Lieutenant and four of our soldier got hit by a IED (back then the higher ups did not want to alarm the Civilians so they called it an accident!). The LT lost his foot while the others were badly hurt! And lets not forget good old Bosnia where snipers and IEDs are planted every once an awhile too!

Hey P51, have you been outside the wire in Iraq? There are more Iraqi soldiers and police fighting the Muj in Iraq than all other nations combined, including the US. They do this despite the fact that their families can be murdered for their service. I had a jundee that I patrolled with who had his son’s head mailed to him in a box. Once the funeral and services were over, he came back to continue his service. I have been in firefights side by side with Iraqi Army, and I have seen them continue to assault through the objective despite taking casualties. I have seen this with my own eyes. Sounds like you’ve been watching too much CNN P51.

Iraq has over 540,000 troops serving on active duty (does not include police and ISWAT or S.O.I.) and while many are still training and/or being led by US forces, Iraqis are the main force conducting combat operations in Diyala Province, Basra, Anbar, etc. etc. etc. Compare that to the current US force strength of 140,000 plus 10,000 or so coalition partners. So the Iraqis who are willing to fight for their nation, in uniform, outnumber our forces more than 3:1 and they need to get off of their asses? Pull your head out of your ass man and keep those shitty and innaccurate IVAW/VVAW talking points to yourself. I suggest you just hang out here and read for a while to get some education on the reality of the situation before you open your stinkin’ pie-hole again. I called the DNC and chewed someone out about this ad. Asked if they really had so little respect and concern for the families of those deployed to show this. What if a young child who’s parent is deployed see this ad?? I can not imagine the fall out of that. It’s hard enough for us adults to think about.
