YouTube Embed Added: If You Aren’t Clapping When McCain Finishes Here, Then F*ck You - With Video
Several people wanted to be able to embed this elsewhere so I put it up on my You Tube channel…click inside.
McCain starts telling this story at the American GI Forum in Denver today. 20 seconds after he started I was riveted. When he finished I stood up clapping, then I looked around and realized I was alone here in my office.
This story, however…if this doesn’t get you on your feet, clapping at the end, then fuck you.
Felt kind of silly once I realized I was up clapping all alone, this happens to me at times, I often find myself standing up during the National Anthem in my living room and then realize I’m in my living room, alone, watching a ball game or something. Kind of funny.
The audio cuts in and out for a few seconds but that was Fox.
You Tube version:
I am not even in the same universe with a guy like that. Unreal and God bless him and all like him.
July 25th, 2008 at 10:57 amAmen to that. thats just amazing.
July 25th, 2008 at 11:02 amwere can i get this vid to post? thank you
July 25th, 2008 at 11:02 amDUTY.
July 25th, 2008 at 11:03 amHONOR.
COUNTRY.
Thank you Sargeant.
R.I.P.
Brings tears to my eyes. I onlt hope should I ever be in a similar position, I could do a tenth of what he was able to.
This is the type of action and heroism the Barack spits upon….the hope child from Illinois CANNOT become POTUS
July 25th, 2008 at 11:10 amYou know, one really good thing about his age, it’s like watching the History Channel only with a personal touch. God Bless him and all troops.
July 25th, 2008 at 11:10 amCourage, Self-Sacrifice…..words that mean everything to some, and paid only lip service by others. I’m proud to be an American, I’m proud to have serviced in the US Army, and I’m proud to live in a country that can breed such unbelievable men.
July 25th, 2008 at 11:15 amgreat story, great video, great country, great presidential candidate.
July 25th, 2008 at 11:17 amCourage, Self-Sacrifice….understood by some, paid lip service by others. I’m proud to be an American, proud to have served in the US Army, and proud to live in a country that can breed such men.
July 25th, 2008 at 11:17 amThat is what we call a soldier! Dedication, honor, duty, all the characteristics that make the Army what it is.
Almost makes you empathize with McCain’s position on illegal immigration: reluctance to deport aliens married to service members.
My God, Vietnam was a hellhole.
I know very little about my father’s combat experience over there, but I do know a few things. He arrived in-country in time for the Cambodian Incursion, serving as a platoon leader in C Co./5th Bn./12th Infantry/199th Light Bde. (his first brigade C.O. was KIA in that very action). He received 3 Bronze Stars (along with a Valor Device(s) (I forget how many)), a Purple Heart, an Air Medal, and numerous other ribbons, badges, and decorations. I know that one of the Bronze Star citations was for recovering American KIA in the face of enemy resistance. Before he was seriously wounded by a .45, he was acting company commander.
Is it any surprise why we (’we’ being all good and decent Americans) hold our military in such high regard? We unlike our European counterparts, have never lived under a military dictatorship. This is but one reason why I don’t feel we need to take after the Europeans, but vice versa; they’ve shown far more poor judgment than we ever have.
Good for McCain for sincerely recognizing a true American hero, I doubt Obama ever could.
July 25th, 2008 at 11:27 amWell, looks like St. Peter will get some R&R. There’s a new guard at the gate. God bless his soul.
July 25th, 2008 at 11:34 amSaluting
July 25th, 2008 at 11:37 amKC
ditto on every word(except i’m ex-navy).
“petrock” obama couldn’t lead girl scouts, let alone men and women of this calibur.
July 25th, 2008 at 11:38 amHooah! That’s one badass soldier. R.I.P comrade.
July 25th, 2008 at 11:42 amBash: ditto CAPT-DAX.(I’d like to post the vid.)
Welcome to John McCain’s world. Fucking unbelievable. And the Senator is really looking and sounding good. About this amazing person described… you guys said it. Amazement to tears.
July 25th, 2008 at 11:45 ammyself:caliber not calibur
July 25th, 2008 at 11:46 amtoo many beers and the florida sun frying my egg today.
McCain doesn’t have to say another thing to get my vote.
July 25th, 2008 at 11:46 amAnyone who has that kind of understanding of duty, honer and courage in the face of fire knows what it is to be an American.
Kilemal
same here.
Bash
July 25th, 2008 at 11:54 amstanding with tears in my eyes. God Bless him and all of our brave men and women.
I have been put completely to personal shame …
The man was everything the American Military is, rolled up into one man. He must’ve been channeling St. Michael himself that day.
BTW, Bash often times TiVos FNC and grabs bites he wants to post. This looks to be one.
You may just have to link to this thread link. Unless Fox releases the video on their site later.
July 25th, 2008 at 12:11 pmNot just a soldier, but a true American Warrior. A Spartan among Hoplites. There really are no words to truly honor and appreciate that kind of man. All we can do is hope that our actions will live up to the values he fought for.
godspeed. see you on the other side.
July 25th, 2008 at 12:37 pmGreat. Now the damn screen’s blurry and the hair standing on my neck and arms is going to stay that way for hours…
July 25th, 2008 at 12:41 pmIrish Gal
Very True.
And another thing…lets not ruin this video by bringing Obama into this post. WE all know he doesn’t deserve to be mentioned alongside a hero like Sarge
July 25th, 2008 at 12:56 pmA true warrior, the boots of which the Obamination is not even worthy of kissing. There is the true meaning of sacrifice, not these idiot leftist ideas of “sacrifice” by giving away our money to the third world. Barry and his ilk use these terms, but really have no idea what they mean, preferring “nuance” and “good intention” to the harsh reality of honest-to-goodness sacrifice.
July 25th, 2008 at 1:22 pmYou have to wonder how many people are at this level of commitment to protecting this country. Unfortunately there seems to be a larger segment of the population that wouldn’t get of the couch to cast a vote that might preserve it.
July 25th, 2008 at 1:49 pmOne thing to add, I read this account some time ago and when Roy was fighting the NVA hand to hand according the account I read he sunk his trusty KBar into the NVA’s chest and left it there, and that was after being shot 7 times. God made him out of very special material.
July 25th, 2008 at 1:52 pmThis man could have taken on Chuck Norris and Rambo… At the same time. And won.
July 25th, 2008 at 2:27 pmW W
*salute*
God Bless America
July 25th, 2008 at 3:18 pmT-Bagg
July 25th, 2008 at 3:49 pmAND Mr T too. plain badass.
Y’all, see the patch on his Beret? Back when Beret’s werent for any ole troop. But held for those with special qualities (SF, Ranger, SF)
That MAN was the BEST of the Best.
We are weaker with his passing but stronger with the knowledge of his example.
July 25th, 2008 at 4:43 pmBack in ‘86 while in INFANTRY training at Benning I was doing overnight Battalion CQ. (Albanese Barracks, Sand Hill, B Co. 5 Bn. 1st ITB - Victory Through Skills!)
The Battalion Commander came in about 0400 and had me come into his office to help with some of his T/A-50 when I noticed the inscribed photo of President Reagan hanging the Medal of Honor around the neck of Sgt Benavidez.
I froze. I asked the BC if he knew Sgt Benavidez and he answered in the affirmative with a smile that quickly faded.
He then went into the story and related what he’d seen.
I was there all night and into the morning because I had been forgotten and pulled the whole shift myself
July 25th, 2008 at 5:00 pmThings like that happen for a reason.
+
BASH,
It is neither strange nor funny behavior, but the behavior of someone deeply proud and respectful of your country and True American Heroes. Hooah..
July 25th, 2008 at 5:10 pm..A good read, The Three Wars of Roy Benavidez
“When told his one-man battle was awesome and extraordinary, Roy replied, “No, that’s duty”.
..just like a boastful Texan, Roy was from El Campo and was “Proud to be an American”. He passed on his journey to a higher place on November 29th 1998 at Brooks Army Med in San Antonio at the age 63.
July 25th, 2008 at 5:50 pmThats hardcore.
July 25th, 2008 at 6:20 pmhttp://www.psywarrior.com/benavidez.html
July 25th, 2008 at 6:48 pmWell I pissed off the wife, when I stood up and cheered, waking her up down the hall fast asleep.
That is a great story, one that we should tell our children at bedtime. Looks like ten years ago we lost a very good one.
You know I met a couple of CMH recipients and the mildest manner guys you would ever want to meet. It is as if some deep down devotion awakens the hero inside them, while they only feel that they have done what anyone else would do. They seem to only want to remember their fallen comrades in arms rather than accept any praise at all. Befitting for the highest honor in the land.
July 25th, 2008 at 7:03 pmAttention,
July 25th, 2008 at 7:31 pmSir, Sgt. Benavidez present and in the Lord’s house, sir.
God bless his soul.
Lord, May I be in my life 1/2 the man with courage that the Sgt. exibited in his life.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZPr9g3EVz-o
July 25th, 2008 at 9:25 pmHe gets a salute from me. He did his duty until he could no longer perform it, and was ready to die for his comrades and didn’t want anything for his actions. This is a real soldier. They need to show this to all the service members in training right now to show what real loyalty and honor is.
July 25th, 2008 at 9:46 pmReading the comments about Sgt. Benivedez here is a great privilege. Thanks Paul in Iowa, Lassertex and all the others for your thoughts and memories of your brother, and most of all, for your service.
July 25th, 2008 at 9:50 pmMcCain tells these stories sooo well because he is of the same caliber. Duty, honor, country. Erkel couldn’t even say that without a teleprompter.
July 25th, 2008 at 10:21 pmWatched it three times now, whoa.
Standing on my feet clapping?
Yeah, with tears in my eyes.
July 25th, 2008 at 10:34 pmI hope you are in agood place Sir, you deserve it.
Billy
July 25th, 2008 at 11:35 pmWhen I hear a story like that, I think God gets some credit too. Reminds me of Sgt. York.
His words…
July 26th, 2008 at 12:25 amAlvin York: “There can be no doubt in the world of the fact of the divine power being in that. No other power under heaven could bring a man out of a place like that. Men were killed on both sides of me; and I was the biggest and the most exposed of all. Over thirty machine guns were maintaining rapid fire at me, point-blank from a range of about twenty-five yards. When you have God behind you, you can come out on top every time.”
I recently had a chance to speack to our churches youth group on the topic of commitment.
I choose Benavidez’s story as an example of what one man can do if he is committed not only to an ideal but to preparing for the eventual challenging of that ideal.
After I read the story I asked the group where they think the story came from. They al thought Hollywood. Wehn they found out it was a real guy you should have seen their faces.
Priceless
To often these days our young men and woman are not shown what they are capbale of they are not given a ‘vision’ of mans true destiny.
“We all die one day, so lets stop trying to save every moment and live like it means something”
Thank you Sgt good bless you and your family.
July 26th, 2008 at 2:12 amA Warrior and a true Patriot, yet humble to the end of his life.
Although millions of Americans may not have heard his name, MSgt. Benevidez is indeed a great man.
I Salute you sir.
Rest in Peace.
July 26th, 2008 at 9:20 amI had the very high honor of meeting MSG (R) Benavidez back in 1985 at Ft Polk, LA. He was a Man’s Man, a helluva good guy….and a true American hero. May you rest in peace MSG Benavidez, and peace to your family as well. I hope the American people never forget you, and Men like you.
