NBC Reporter Questions Kobe: Is It Still ‘Cool’ To Say You Love Your Country?
“No, it’s a cool thing for me to say. I feel great about it, and I’m not ashamed to say it. I mean, this is a tremendous honor.”
SCREW NBC!

trapper,
August 17th, 2008 at 10:15 amMe to.
Wow!
WTF?
August 17th, 2008 at 10:16 amIs it cool? IT’S FUCKING AWESOME! You scum bag puke!
My two biggest disappointments with this Olympics have nothing to do with the athletes, they are the number of commercials and the stupid innane insipid questions from reporters like Jim Gray and Chris Collinsworth. Breathtakingly shallow questions, I so wish one of the athletes would really just say “that was a really stupid question, try again.” Thank God for DVR.
The athletic acheivements at this olympics will go down in history, Phelp’s 8, a women’s 400+ lb. clean and jerk and Bolt’s amazing speed.
August 17th, 2008 at 11:26 am“Is that a cool thing to say in this day and age, that you love your country and that you’re fighting for the Red White and Blue. And it seems sort of LIKE A DAY GONE BY?”
Hope and pray that it doesn’t come to that #80.
August 17th, 2008 at 11:49 amBono from U2 recently said that Europeans always snicker a little when they watch Americans awash with patriotism. Is there another race of people who place their hands over their hearts during their national anthem? Probably not.
Anyway, Bono has had a change of heart. He thinks a lot of Africa’s problems would be solved if they imitated America. He thinks they should become a United States of Africa. I’m not making this up.
I judged Michael Phelps (the swimmer) for refusing to carry an American flag two days ago. Someone read my post and said the flag had been thrown to Phelps and “hit the ground” and he had the discretion to refuse it. The flag is supposed to be retired with honors now. Thanks to “displaced Ched Head” for that info.
That’s one reason I like this blog. When people share their knowledge, we all benefit.
August 17th, 2008 at 12:29 pm…I love the way Kobe looks the reporter in the eye and tells him he’s “not ashamed” to say he loves his country. The reporter looked a little embarrassed afterwards. There’s a lot of class acts out there and Kobe’s one of them. I wish to God he was running for president instead of Obama.
August 17th, 2008 at 12:39 pmPretty good Kobe… pretty good. A better.. albeit not PC reply… would have been to look at shitbird reporter quizzically and say “Why wouldnt it be cool for me say I love my country? Do you love your country? Of course its cool for me to love my country. I would submit that if an individual doesnt love thier country they should get thier traitor ass up and move to someplace they do love!
August 17th, 2008 at 1:08 pmOne more thought: Some weeks ago, Obama spoke to a group of high school students and told them to place their aspirations lower than their dreams. He told them they weren’t as good at basketball as they thought, and they weren’t going to make the NBA.
Where would Kobe be today if he had heard that speech as a teenager?
August 17th, 2008 at 1:24 pm“Europeans always snicker a little when they watch Americans awash with patriotism.”
This type of comment really gets under my skin. What have they done since the great war to warrant any type of patriotic feelings? Socialist smug pricks almost to a person. Hell, I can’t view the video of the Cactus Cuties singing the National Anthem at Texas Tech without getting misty eyed. It doesn’t help that I haven’t heard from my son for almost three weeks - in the boonies somewhere around the Afghan/Pakistan border. His fifth tour, but it doesn’t get any easier………….but the beer tastes good tonight!
August 17th, 2008 at 5:03 pmI forgot that everyone’s supposed to be miserable and hate their country their whole life. Lord knows I don’t want to be proud of my country that keeps me safe from people that want to kill me and has the best athletes in the world.
That’s why I watch Fox.
August 17th, 2008 at 5:30 pmFinally.
August 17th, 2008 at 5:38 pmI would have loved a response… like. “I think it’s only the asshole journalists that even conceive of questions like that. The only other members of society that think that way are the Liberals, you know, Democrats. Those are the ones who have no love for the United States of America.”
I can fantasize.
Damn you Collinsworth…I thought you were a better man than this.
Cheers to you Kobe…
August 17th, 2008 at 7:34 pmWho’s he voting for?
August 18th, 2008 at 1:55 amI used to like collinsworthless, now I think he’s a turd. I was watching that interview with my 8 year-old son, it was an excellent teaching lesson for me and him. Kobe has class, chrissy is an ass.
August 18th, 2008 at 4:04 amSTFU Chris!
Thanks Kobe!
August 18th, 2008 at 6:01 amKobe, way to go. I’m a hugh fan of yours now.
